Backsplash Installation in Old Lyme, CT Near Me

A backsplash protects the wall behind the counters and is one of the most visible design elements in a kitchen. Ceramic and porcelain tile, glass tile, natural stone, and mosaic sheets are all common choices, with subway patterns and larger formats each creating a different feel. Installation involves preparing the wall surface, planning the layout so cuts fall in sensible places, setting the tile with the correct adhesive, then grouting and, where needed, sealing. Details around outlets, windows, and the space behind the range affect both the look and the amount of cutting required.
Timing and coordination with other work matter. A backsplash is normally installed after countertops so the tile meets the counter cleanly, and removing an old backsplash can damage drywall that then needs repair. Grout color changes the finished look significantly, and outlet extenders are often needed so the receptacles sit flush with the new surface. Heat behind a cooktop can call for specific materials. For kitchens in Old Lyme, CT being updated with new cabinet fronts or counters, choosing the backsplash last makes it easier to match colors against finished samples.
